PJAM Starts Tonight!

Tonight, the inaugural Philly Japan Arts Matsuri will be kicking off at the Prince Music Theater with the Philadelphia premiere of Abaraxas, straight from it's world premiere screening at Sundance. I personally can't wait for The Philly Premiere, Midnight Friday, of "Yakuza Weapon" with Director/Actor Tak Sakaguchi (Versus) in attendance!! That's REALLY Awesome.

From Greg Christie (PJAM organizer & programmer):

Tonight, the inaugural Philly Japan Arts Matsuri will be kicking off at the Prince Music Theater with the Philadelphia premiere of Abaraxas, straight from it's world premiere screening at Sundance. For all of the full details and schedule, please see the attached press release.

You may have received press releases and emails already for this event, but we're a persistent bunch here. PJAM is the collaborative effort of three independent film programmers with no corporate or major financial backing. We have no huge sponsorships, we are just three guys who know a lot about film and music who love Japan and have friends and family who've been effected by the horrible tragedy on March 11th. This three day festival has been in development since the morning of March 12th, it's taken us four months to organize this and we need your help and support to spread the word so that we can raise as much money as possible.

This is an entirely, 100% non-profit event with all proceeds benefiting tsunami relief. For all of the specific details, please see the press release attached as a PDF. But here are the basics! We have 3 nights with multiple themes including 6 radically different Japanese film premieres, live music, and interactive entertainment. We seriously have something for EVERYONE. All events will be taking place at the Prince Music Theater.

THURSDAY JULY 7th: We will be screening Abaraxas on 35mm followed by the premiere of Takashi Miike's gonzo family opus, Ninja Kids!

FRIDAY JULY 8th: We will be turning the Prince Music Theater's lobby into a video arcade including a live concert with Philly's hottest Chip Tune bands. At Midnight, we'll be premiering Yakuza Weapon with the Japanese cast and crew in attendance including cult super star, Tak Sakaguichi!!!

SATURDAY JULY 9th: We have two hysterical Japanese comedies about inept suburban kids trying to become major rappers followed by a live hip hop show with popular M.C.s Dosage and DJ Cutman!

And for anyone who has goods to sell or events to promote, a few table spaces are still available for Friday July 8th!

Tickets are available online at www.princemusictheater.org
