The Awesome Fest & Paramount Pictures "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" have partnered to present the City's largest pizza extravaganza, featuring THE PIZZA UNDERGROUND, on Friday July 18th at The Oval (directly in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art)!

Join us as we eat a lot of pizza (provided by Pizza Hut), dance to pizza themed songs, and then watch a pizza themed movie, all in front of The Art Museum and all completely free of charge!

THE PIZZA UNDERGROUND
The Pizza Underground is an American comedy rock band based in New York City. Namely parodying songs by The Velvet Underground with pizza-themed songs names and lyrics, the group consists of Macaulay Culkin (kazoo, percussion and vocals) along with Matt Colbourn (guitar, vocals), Phoebe Kreutz (glockenspiel, vocals), Deenah Vollmer (pizza box, vocals), and Austin Kilham (tambourine, vocals.

ANG & THE DAMN BAND
Ang & the Damn Band is Fronted & created by blonde spit-fire, Philadelphia native, Ang Bocca. "The Damn Band" can include a multitude of different musicians on any given occassion making each show unique in its own right. Ang & the Damn Band was born in the local indie, hip-hop, & rockabilly music scenes.

MODERN COLOUR
While bursting onto the Philadelphia music scene as the city’s response to the deconstructed blues-rock pioneered by Jack White and The Black Keys, Modern Colour expanded their sound by experimenting with different genres and working with artists representative of each. Though the band is still a straightforward and in-your-face rock n’ roll group, a closer listen reveals layers of hip-hop, neo-soul, R&B, Americana, and funk influences hidden beneath the blues bars and driving drums.

Followed by an outdoor screening of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (1990)!

Beer Garden on site!

Pizza provided by PIZZA HUT! The first 200 slices will be given away for FREE!

About The Awesome Fest:

The Awesome Fest was created in 2010 as a scrappy DIY community project designed to showcase innovative and cutting edge independent cinema in unique and non-traditional spaces throughout the City of Philadelphia.

Our annual summer outdoor film & music festival has featured well over 200 screenings, concerts, stand-up comics, and art installations, completely FREE to all who attend. Last year, we built Center City Philadelphia's first ever drive-in movie theater, launched a 10 week celebration of the 1980's, and hosted an all night horror movie marathon outdoors in the woods at a summer camp.

This year's festival theme is, "The Soundtrack of Awesome', 8 weeks of movies that rock. For the 5th straight summer, all outdoor screenings and concerts are completely free to attend. We are showcasing many Philadelphia Premiere titles, a 90's prom on the Parkway, Macaulay Culkin's The Pizza Underground, and we will be attempting to launch a piece of bacon into outer space at our 2nd annual (Kevin) Bacon Festival.

The Greater Philadelphia Film Office is a proud fiscal sponsor of The Awesome Fest. All charitable donations are tax-deductible.
