The FREE screening is going down on Thursday, April 26 at 7:30 pm at the Ritz Five. The screening will be followed by an after-party at Frankford Hall that will feature a midnight screening of Shakes the Clown (1991), also with Bobcat in attendance; 10pm doors, $5 admission.

Philly native Josh Goldbloom has had a hand in virtually every corner of the Philadelphia film community in 2011 having transitioned from Artistic Director of the Philadelphia Cinema Alliance’s Cinefest to the Founder/Programmer of the Piazza-based Awesome Fest to his current position as Program Director of the Philadelphia Film Society.

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) September 12, 2011 – The Awesome Fest, along with sponsors Zip Car and FlixFling and partners Scrapple.tv and Weathervane Music & WXPN, concludes its 2011 summer series at the Piazza at Schmidt’s this Thursday, September 15 at 7pm with a screening of Turkey Bowl. The film, which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival, is an Altman-esque look at a group of old friends who come together once a year to play a traditional game of touch football. In the spirit of the film, The Awesome Fest will organize a free-to-join, open-to-all game of touch football on Sunday, September 18 in Liberty Lands Park (located at 3rd St and Wildey, blocks from the Piazza).

Following the film, a panel of intellectuals and professionals will engage one another, and the audience at large, on the topics and themes addressed within the film.

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) August 30, 2011 – The Awesome Fest, along with sponsors Zip Car and FlixFling and partners Scrapple.tv and Weathervane Music & WXPN, continues its 2011 summer series at the Piazza at Schmidt’s this Thursday, September 1 at 8pm with a screening of the documentary Shut Up, Little Man!- An Audio Misadventure. The film, which premiered at Sundance, explores the cultural phenomenon behind the audio recordings made in San Francisco in the late 80’s by Eddie Lee Sausage and Mitchell D, documenting their drunken neighbors’ hateful rants, arguments and fistfights.
