Philadelphia, PA – April 30, 2013 – This summer, from June 14th through August 17th, The Awesome Fest is teaming up with presenting sponsor Parx Casino® and media sponsor Citypaper, to launch a 10 week citywide film & music festival celebrating the 1980’s. The Festival will include over 50 events, featuring 30 outdoor movies, special guests, anniversary screenings, an ‘80’s style prom, and popular musicians from the decade. In keeping with the festival tradition, the majority of the events and all outdoor screenings are presented free of charge.

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) June 15th, 2012 -The Awesome Fest is partnering with the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation to present a weekly series of free outdoor movie screenings at the Race Street Pier. Every Saturday at nightfall throughout the summer, The Awesome Fest will be presenting independent features straight out of major festivals including Sundance and SXSW.

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) June 12th, 2012 – Beginning Thursday June 28th and running weekly through August 30th, The Awesome Fest will celebrate the 1980’s with “The Awesome 80’s on The Awesome Screen”. Each week The Awesome Fest will celebrate one film from each year of the 1980’s, kicking off with THE BLUES BROTHERS (1980). All screenings (on the new 30 foot screen) begin at sundown, and admission for every event is completely free.

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) May 10, 2012 – In celebration of Adam Yauch and his iconic contributions to life, music, and independent film, The Awesome Fest & Trocadero Theatre are honored to host a screening of the Beastie Boys concert film, AWESOME; I FUCKIN' SHOT THAT!, on Thursday, May 17th at The Trocadero Theatre. This a Free, 21+ event with a suggested charitable donation of $5 to an as-yet-to-be-determined benefit of the Yauch family's choosing. Doors open at 7pm, with the film beginning at 8. The event is general admission with limited seating available. In addition to the screening, there will be a DJ spinning old skool hip-hop before the film, and an anthology of Beastie Boys videos, to follow shortly after the screening.

The Awesome Fest is proud to present, the Philadelphia Premiere of DEGENERATE ART: THE ART & CULTURE OF GLASS PIPES, (an official selection of SXSW 2012) directed by local glass artist & filmmaker M. Slinger. If that wasn’t awesome enough, following the screening and Q & A from the director, there will be a live glass blowing demo and reggae-themed DJ set from Ryan I of Blessed Coast Sound (whose music is featured in the film). The event will take place at 8pm, on Tuesday, May 29th at The Trocadero Theatre. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at This is a 21+ event.

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) April 24th, 2012 - On Thirsday, April 26th, minutes after The Awesome Fest presents the Philadelphia Premiere of “God Bless America”, the fun continues at Frankford Hall with an after-party featuring an appearance by Bobcat Goldthwait, a carnival/sideshow performance, burlesque dancers, a midnight outdoor screening of Shakes The Clown, & many other special surprises. The doors open at 10pm, and tickets are only $5. Clowns get in for free!

PHILADELPHIA (April 10, 2012) – The Philadelphia Science Festival continues to evolve, and among the
additions for 2012 is a partnership with Awesome Fest, a local film society known for its edgy and unique events and innovative approach to programming. Together, the two organizations are integrating a mini- Science Film Festival into the overall Science Festival, offering more than a dozen films, related lectures and programs beginning April 21.

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) April 11th, 2012 – The Awesome Fest and Tribeca Film have teamed up to bring four new releases to Philadelphia, over the course of two nights, beginning on April 30th, just on the heels
of their release in New York and on VOD nationwide. Each screening will take place at The Trocadero Theatre.

The Awesome Fest Presents a very special evening with The Ghost Adventures Crew, including: Investigators/Co-Hosts Nick Groff & Aaron Goodwin, Audio Specialist Jay Wasley, & photographer, Ashley Richardson. VIP ticket holders will be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime ghost hunt, with all 4 crew members, investigating the Cruiser Olympia, as well as the submarine on the Delaware Waterfront.
